Get This Now: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

When I was at The Makeup Show NYC (yes I'm still talking about it), I had the chance to talk to talk to super beautiful Katie of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC).

The first I had ever heard about OCC was the infamous Lip Tar. Lip Tar? I know! I mean, everyone was raving about this one tube of lip product. And you know me, if there's a lip product out there creating that much buzz you know I had to step in and find out what the deal was.

Katie was a super sweet and very knowledgeable about the brand and all of the products. So here's a rundown of my convo with Katie:

How did Lip tar come to be? What was the inspiration for the product?
The Lip Tars actually started out by accident (as all great products/ inventions start out...ummm, hello Coca Cola). It was another product that Katie jokingly called "lip tar" due to the fact that it literally looked like black tar. Since it was quite pigmented she tried using it on a model's lips and the rest was history. Lip Tar was launched at The Makeup Show LA where they original 8 colors sold out quicker than Jimmy Choo's on sale.

Top: Safety Orange. Bottom: Grandma

What makes Lip Tars so special?
They are really dense and heavily pigmented. They have the lasting power of lipstick and the slickness and application of a gloss. The wonderful thing about these are that while they may seem bright in the tube, it is really easy to manipulate and tone it down.

Since OCC is 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, don't expect to see any parabens and other harsh preservatives. All Lip Tar contains is Castor oil, hemp oil, peppermint oil, Vitamin E, and crazy intense color pigments.

So there you have it. One of the greatest accidents to hit the makeup world is now one of my favorite products ever. Katie also has a good eye. She suggested I wear the color "Grandma"- a coral color that David's (the CEO of OCC) grandma would wear. While it did freak me out at first- I'm not used to wearing really pigmented colors- I was able to tone it down with a really light pink color (my Dior Addict gloss in 577). The color Katie was wearing (NSFW: Not Safe For Work) was a bright red that gave this old school Hollywood look. I was super envious.

Be sure to check out the amazing Lip Tars, as well as the loose color pigments. I have always been of loose pigment eyeshadows but these were to beautiful to pass up!

I'm dying! Done. Dead. Scrape me off the floor. These are just to beautiful.
