To: Hello Kitty fans

I absolutely adore Hello Kitty. Like seriously in love. I've never loved a cat more in my life.

So when I heard about the opening of their first ever Sanrio Luxe location...I was stoked. This store is the Sanrio store on West 42nd Street (don't you just love 42nd Street???)

They weren't kidding around when they said luxe. Gone are the days of cutesy stickers and too small lunchboxes. Oh NO! This baby is selling $200+ clothing, jewelry, shoes and collaboration items which were formerly Japan exclusives (hello Hello Kitty x Porter collab). Going away and want H. Kitty with you...worry not as they sell luggage. And what would you put in this suitcase..well why not your new silk Hello Kitty dress. Oh and don't forget your new pink cashmere baby scarf...you're going to need that for the little 'un.

If you don't live within the immediate NYC area and you want these looks like you're going to have to make a friend who lives here because I haven't seen an online store as of yet.

I don't know if I like this. While I'd like to call myself a Hello Kitty collector but sending $200+ on a cartoon wouldn't really fare well with my Visa. I can't see myself spending that much...ok I lie...I could see myself spending that just I don't have the money to. And I miss my old Hello Kitty store. I liked the previous candy shop-esque vibe. This is too serious and...well...rich. I mean Baccarat chandeliers??? They just crushed the dreams of some little 6 year old girl who wanted her a Hello Kitty notebook. Now instead mommy has to fork over money for a cashmere scarf. They call this "a whole new concept of cute."

This ain't cute!! It's an abomination! I want my Chococat Rhinestone Necklace, Badtz-Maru hair barrettes, and my Keroppi Plush!!!

Why does everything have to go "luxe" or dare I say it "couture". IT IS NOT COUTURE! Couture is the most overused phrase in fashion dictionary to the point where it has lost its meaning. Am I angry?? Visibly!

Bad move Sanrio...bad move. You just lost yourself one dedicated customer (how can I go and pay $150 for something in times like these??). Not only did you lose me...oh no...you lost all those THOUSANDS of little girls who BUG there mom CONSTANTLY just to go inside and get a Hello Kitty plush.

THOUSANDS! I know cuz I hear them when I'm walking along Times Square.

Don't let the Kimora's and Mariah's of the world get in your head!

Looks like I gotta stick to my Hello Kitty Debit Card from Bank of America...

Bored

So this morning, I woke up late but got a ride to the train station. At 9:05am I was making great progress 1/3 of the way to 14th st Union Square when I realized---I left my dear old BlackBerry at home.

I was stuck in NYC stranded without a cell phone.

It is now 7:45pm and I am still at school fulfilling my work study hours and am extremely bored. What if my friends wanted to meet up for lunch? What if I got a call for a job interview? What if the new semi-not-quite-there-still-in-the-talking-phase boyfriend sent me a message on Blackberry Messenger???

So as I sit hee waiting for 8:30pm to arrive so I can peace out...I am filling out a questionnaire. I can't think of anything beauty related.

10 Years Ago (1998):
1. I was in the 5th grade...I had my first boyfriend then though we weren't really boyfriend-girlfriend. I just liked him and he sora liked me and by the power invested in my friends we were in a relationship.

4.Donate to Susan G. Komen Foundation and March of Dimes
5. Buy all the make-up I want

5 Places I have lived:
1. Haiti (spent my youth there)
2. Brooklyn, NY (currently reside)

Times are rough...I'm looking out

So you know I've got your back when it comes to saving money. As a college student, I know what it's like. I hate stereotypes but this is one that I must confess is sort of true- the broke college student. But I don't feel so bad because I know the rest of the country is feeling the pain of empty wallets.

So in times of economic distress...I look out for frugal findings. And I'm sharing my knowledge. And quite frankly...I'm straight Couponing it!

Seeing that winter is fast approaching, it's time to start thinking ahead. What's that you ask? What happened to Fall? Good question, it's a blistering 40something degrees here in New York City, and I'm not quite sure what happened to our beloved weather of the orange leaves.

One thing I absolutely adore, that the rest of the world absolutely despises is my Ugg Classic Shorts. These babies are soooooo comfortable it's beyond me why anybody would hate them. Visit Zappos that way yours will arrive just in time for cold weather wearing. My feet never ever get cold (and when you're stuck waiting for a bus that comes every half hour in 20degree weather..that's a Godsend).

And if you're too lazy to go pickup that Palmer's Cocoa Butter for your dry winter skin, no problem simply buy it online at drugstore.com and let it come to you.

And for that new bra from Frederick's of Hollywood get the Menswear Soft Cup bra..comfort at it's best and at 2 for $15..not bad at all. Am I the only one that uses winter as a means of getting a new everything! Makeup, boots, shoes, flip flops, bras...you name it winters a good excuse.

And for that new digital camera...don't go splurging at the stores! Get additional 10% off select items at Circuit City. Trust me dolls

I assure you ladies that coupons are the way to go when the stock market isn't the only thing disappointing you as of late. I remember being embarrassed of coupons when I was younger but then about a year (or was it a couple of months ago) I saw an episode of 20/20 where this family was saving huge amounts of money just by using coupons...and when I say huge I mean HUGE! Coming out of the grocery store with like 4 bags but only paid like $50.

Yeah

Imagine how much makeup you could buy.

Are you smiling yet.

Anywhoo, the site is www.1-coupons.com and there are coupons for everything you could think of.

Can't say I never shared anything with you.

Aveda Dry Remedy Shampoo+ L'Oreal Vive Pro Conditoner= Heaven

So for the past month, I've actually put in effort to deal with this hair of mine. There's a love hate relationship going on at the moment. I love the fact that it's actually growing and has gone past my shoulders (although my hair is layered so the front is still somewhat shorter). And I also love the whole natural thing. BUT I also hate the whole natural thing because my hair is not as "natural" as it used to be...I don't know if this makes any sense whatsoever but I think I over relaxed my hair because it is no longer curly nor wavy.

But then again it's only been two months since I've been growing out my hair from relaxed to natural.

I also hate having to actually take care of my hair. When relaxed, I normally unwrap and go..natural hair requires more care and quite frankly I'm lazy.

There I said it.

BUT for the past month, I have been IN LOVE! I stopped going to the Dominicans to do my hair (times are hard financially) and have bought myself a blowdryer. Normally my hair comes out super poofy and I just want to crawl and hide but my shampoo/ conditioner combo has got me singing victory!

The shampoo I've been using is Aveda's Dry Remedy Shampoo (I have the conditioner but haven't tested it out yet). This shampoo has a patent-pending Deep-Moisture complex that penetrates hair in order to deliver lasting, intense moisture. It is powered by buriti oil, pomegranate and palm-derived conditioners. This shampoo smells AWESOME! There's a floral aroma that goes off in my shower and honestly has me lathering for at least a minute or two longer than I'm supposed to. This shampoo includes certified organic products palmarosa (a floral fragrance with a hint of rose and is said to be rejuvenating, uplifting and calming) , rose geranium, ylang ylang as well as other products as buriti oil, pomegranate and palm-derived conditioners. There's also a hint of vanilla! The scent alone had me smiling in the shower and it did not make my hair feel icky in while lathering. This baby rinsed of like a dream.

After shampooing, I conditioned my hair using L'Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioner for dry/damaged hair. I've raved about this conditioner before and am not afraid to do it again. My hair was super soft and manageable. Easy to comb through and made detangling a breeze. No knots in this head of hair! The pearl protein complex in this shampoo nourishes hair and helps prevent split ends (a.k.a hair enemy #1).

And since it was about that time, I used
L’Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioning Treatment
after the conditioner. I just let this sit in my hair for what I feel like is the three minutes they say (but their three minutes is my like five...). When rinsing, it just glides of my hair and doesn't leave any nasty filmy residue. This treatment has a pearl protein complex that delivers maximum shine and revitalizes hair.

The result you ask?

Shiny. Soft. Manageable hair.

Seriously look at that hair. WONDERFUL! This is the best shampoo/ conditioner combination ever!

Aveda Dry Remedy Shampoo: $24 for 6.7 fl oz. and $42 for 16 fl oz.
L’Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioner: $4.99
L’Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioning Treatment: $4.99

Fashion Week SS 09: Gucci

Ever since I read the article on Frida Giannini in April's Harper's Bazaar I instantly fell in love with her. I definitely love her style. She's like a chic rocker chick who can transform into a sexy yet classy woman for evening.
So needless to say I was a bit excited when checking out style.com for pics of her Spring Summer 2009 collection.
I fell in love with the mix of short flowy spring dresses. These are supremely wonderful and I feel a wardrobe must have come Spring. My faves? It's a tie. Ya'll know I love all things purple and pink so the dress on Chanel Iman (first dress on the left) and Snejana Onopka (last dress on the right). The dress on Chanel Iman is wonderful as it's a darker purple so its great for a night out while Snejana's dress is lighter color and a bit more flowy so it's perfect for a daytime look.
The flowiness continues into the night except these are more bold solid colors (HOO-RAY for color!!). Looks like the maxi dress is returning for Spring 09. Again Captain Obvious that I am, I love the first dress on (purple one on Anja). Flowy yet elegant evening dresses. Perfect!
Not only that, there was the laid back cool of the "Frida pant" which has become somewhat of a staple for Gucci and the Fedora here is less Paris Hilton tacky and more fashionista cool.
Ahh yess...the super short yet ultra sexy suits. It reminds me of the safari rage that we went through a couple seasons back. This is a like the 20 year old's power suit...except rather than an office the she's out there to conquer the world.
I was really shocked to read less than stellar reviews of Giannini's collection this season.

As per New York Mag:
They say her work looks like something on the racks of Zara and isn't trend-setting, and her runway show is just designed to sell, sell, sell.

Many of the suits in the show — skinny pants cropped above the ankle with well-tailored jackets in vibrant greens and blues — could easily hit the shelves of Zara and H&M months before they get to Gucci’s boutiques. At first glance, there was nothing much about either the fabrics or silhouettes of the clothes that would make them stand out from fast-fashion imitators.

Ouch!

Cathy Horyn of the New York Times:

Giannini has become an expert not so much in expressing an idea as packaging it … But where was the element of surprise? And apart from the updated Jackie bags and chunky stone bracelets, how luxurious was it? The olive and khaki safari dresses, with zips and drawstrings, were cute and well-executed. But are they a look you expect from Gucci, or Liz Claiborne? Are they even a Look?

but it doesn't stop...WWD:

Gucci looks are all over Zara. The argument that they seem more appropriate to such a venue than to the upper echelons of luxury fashion hasn’t put a damper on sales of the real thing … [T]hese clothes bore all the exotica of a piñata party in Portsmouth. That, however, might be their genius. Ample anecdotal evidence suggests that most people aren’t interested in stylistic risk-taking, while many fall into the antisobriety camp.
Well, now I could see the whole H&M/ Zara comparison but I mean she's still a designer and selling clothes is her job! Who needs fantasy when your pockets are screaming REALITY! I could justify buying any of these pieces as they are not only aesthetically pleasing but they are functional!
Kudo Frida!

Mommy dearest...did you always look so fly???

(haha I'm soo obviously bored at school right now that you can tell by the title of the post...)

But this is some major news. I'm seeing it EVERYWHERE! Pregnant women are surrounding the New York City area. I can name five friends of mine who are expecting and one online one...(Tia from Shake Your Beauty...congrats!)

But the one thing I can imagine that's super hard when preggers is clothes. Other than the fact that you have a tiny person inside you, you have to worry about looking good even if you feel like (and do) yelling at everyone in sight.

At least one of my friends yells than apologizes...it's rather entertaining.

Anywhoo...though I may not be expecting you know I have to look out for anyone who is...plus when I find a great site, I can't help but share. So if you're shopping for some maternity clothes I highly suggest you visit KikisFashions.com.

Super cute, super trendy clothes and some starting at $9.99. In times of economic stress, it's websites like these that make me happy.

Not only are these outfits fly and affordable they're unique. Another plus they rotate inventory often so there are always new styles to choose from. options, options, options...me likey.

And for my stylish moms to be:

I love the tribal like detail along the neckline of this dress. Dress costs $27

And if the Mr. decides to take you out...or you just want to look good, the little black dress never fails. And at $26 who are you to say no.

Let's Play Dress Up...

You know you want to. Heck, I do every year. With Halloween a mere 23 days away, I can't help but wonder what I'm going to be this year.

Lies.

I know exactly what I want to be and I have known for the past year.

Pathetic, I know.

Ever since I saw this picture of Allison Sarofim at her Hallowween party last year i have been thinking of replicating this outfit.

Crazy right?

She looks gorgeous and hell why not...did you check out her lashes??? I'm guessing I could use some MakeUp Forever Falsies in #116. As well as massive amounts of peacock feathers.

Being that I have no idea where to get a billion faux peacock feathers, I'll just have to get the look for less by visiting Halloween Costume Stores. HalloweenAdventures.com is really cool and has some awesome costumes. They have excellent varieties and not just your average "devil" or "sexy" outfit- though thos DO exist on the site if that's your thing. Not to mention they have quick and easy returns AND free Shipping on orders over $60 until 10/10/08.
And considering that your costume will probably be $60+...why not. But be quick- I already saw "sold out" signs in some costumes.

I did find this peacock outfit and while it is a less sexy more cute version of my ideal costume...it would work for a last minute thing.

Ok minus the hat.
