Last night I had the pleasure of attending Orlane's cocktail party benefiting Afghan Hands. Held at the Longchamp Soho store, the fashion crowd mixed and purchased items from Afghan Hands.
Afghan Hands teaches skills to help Afghan widows gain independence, literacy, and a livable wages. At the centers in and around Kabul, women learn to create embroidered shawls and scarves, and the exquisite embroidery they make connects them to a wider world.
It was truly amazing to see the work of the ladies. The shawls and scarves are impeccably detailed and the embroidery was simply beautiful.
Maggie Rizer, Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy as well as fashion and beauty editors shopped and chatted the night away.
