The Nordstrom Beauty 2016 Anniversary Sale is back and it’s time to get ready. I always love the Nordstrom Beauty Anniversary sale because it’s THE ideal time to stock up on some of your favorite products, get some new palettes, and pick up that one item that’s been on your wish list since forever. Since there’s A LOT to go through, I’ve selected a few items I think you should check out.

MUST HAVE PALETTES
More than anything in the beauty world, I love a good palette. It’s a super convenient way to shop your favorite brands without breaking the bank. Case in point this Charlotte Tilbury Instant Beauty Palette. If you’ve ever wanted to try out Charlotte Tilbury’s collection, now is the time. This palette contains three eyeshadows, her Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush, Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Bronzer & Highlight, and a travel-size Legendary Lashes Mascara all for $75. Considering that the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face alone costs $68 I consider this a steal. There’s also the Nordstrom’s Best Cheek Palette by NARS ($65.00) which has four blushes (Orgasm, Deep Throat, Luster, and Desire), one highlighting blush (Albatross) and one bronzing powder (Laguna).
Another cult fave is the Hourglass Ambient® Luminous Light Palette ($62.00) which gives you that subtle lit-from-within glow. This Bobbi on Trend - Sultry Bronze Eye Set ($65.00) spoke to me on so many levels because it’s a) warm and b) has a range of mattes, shimmer, and metallic shades. There’s also a smokey eye version in the #NSale if you’re more into dark shades. Lastly, Laura Mercier’s Flawless Icons Eye & Cheek Palette ($65.00) is another one palette that gives you a lot of variety- eight eyeshadows, one matte bronzer, and one highlight-without costing an arm and a leg.
GOTTA GET ‘EM GIFT SETS
Gift sets are for those who want to get a lot at once but don’t want to spend a lot of money, feel me? While I don’t typically like pint size makeup (I lost always lose deluxe samples), I do have friends are about that life. What’s not to love really? You get a main attraction, whether it’s a palette, full-sized favorite or otherwise AND you get to sample something before committing (like a mascara or primer). Below are a few recommendations from yours truly.
It’s no secret I love NARS. That brand has my heart. The Survival - I and Survival - II Kits retail for $59 and you get a full face palette along with mini lip glosses and the new(ish) Audacious Mascara. If you’re a NARS girl grab this one QUICK because I foresee it going fast. The M·A·C Look In a Box sets are always fun and usually have a wide array of products. Check them out here, here, here, and here. This one has my favorite mascara ever!
For those in the mood for a more lux gift set this Tom Ford set and this YSL sets are both gorgeous and contain full-sized products. If you’re feeling super speedy, check out the ever popular makeup planner by Trish McEvoy. These always sellout despite the $195 price tag but who can blame them? You get quite a bit of makeup!
SKINCARE
To be completely honest with you I’m more fascinated by the skin care offerings from the Nordstrom Beauty 2016 Anniversary Sale than the makeup. THERE’S SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM. You can get this La Mer set if you’re feeling spend but on the more affordable note I’m totally eyeing this Glamglow set. I love my Supermud cleanser and haven’t really bit the bullet yet on the mask so now’s the time! I’ve been meaning to get a new Drying Lotion from Mario Badescu so this set has been added to my cart ($38 for three products? Yes, girl).
If you’re a fan of Kiehl’s skin care (I totally am) than the Ultra Healthy Skin Favorites should be added to your list. It has the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (one of my favorites), Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque, Ultra Facial Cream, and Ultra Facial Cleanser. Lastly, I know this is a favorite because just about every loves Purity Made Simple by Philosophy so if you are this duo is great. I love a giant anything.
SKINCARE TECH
Tech in skincare is nothing new but I had to call out a few things to keep an eye on. First there’s my absolute favorite - Clarisonic. I’ve loved the Clarisonic for YEARS and have always recommended it (on sale or not!) because I believe in it. You can get the Mia for $89- a total steal if you ask me! They did just release the Mia Fit, which is a compact and lightweight system. Stay tuned for a full review as I just got this! There’s the NuFace ‘Trinity’ Facial Toning Device which, no lie, scares the bejesus outta me but the reviews speak for themselves. It helps to rejuvenate and improve your appearance so if you can get past the scary looking device, give it a whirl.
The Foreo Luna Mini is on my wish list for no reason other than to compare it to the Clarisonic. I have heard people rave about this and since it’s rubber, it’s much easier to clean than the Clarisonic. My biggest gripe about the Clarisonic is the fact tht I hae to remember to buy new brush heads so the thought of not having to do that entices me. Plus there’s the claim that with just one minute of use two times per day, the LUNA mini will improve your complexion in three days. Hmmmm….
HAIRCARE
Not a lot of offerings for those with naturally curly or kinky curly hair in this sale :/ I am a big fan of Moroccanoil so I love seeing their sets in the sale. Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner are great for those of us who have damaged hair due to heat or chemical processing (perfect if you’re transitioning from relaxed to natural, in my opinion and experience). When I was relaxed, I used to hit up Drybar like no tomorrow. I weirdly love the scent of their products so this ‘Beach in a Box’ set caught my eye. Bonus, you get a curling iron! If you’re the type that loves the beachy, tousled look you might want to hit this one up. T3 has a cult following and at $138 this just might be the time to pick up the Featherweight 2 hair dyer. Ditto with ghd’s professional styler. Last hair care pick has to go to Phyto’s Phytodéfrisant straightening balm. I used to love this stuff! Apply it to damp hair before blow drying for the sleekest blowout in your life. Not sticky or gooey and doesn’t weigh hair down. 👌🏾
