Diptyque

loving lately: diptyque skincare, mac spring collection, & nars matte multiple

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Between packing all of my belongings and an unexpected work trip, it’s been a tad bit busy on the home front so posting here will be a little irregular for the next week or so. Before I depart here are a few things that I’ve been loving, craving, and keeping an eye on:
ADS_Visage_collection
1. diptyque is launching a new range called the L’Art du Soin Facial Skincare Collection in March and I am lining up to purchase. It consists of five skincare products centered around the Damask Rose that looks absolutely beautiful and since I’m already obsessed with the brand’s body care products I’m sure this will be a hit. I can already hear the Infused Facial Water ($55) calling my name. Available in diptyque boutiques in March.

2. I have the M·A·C Fantasy of Flowers collection staring at me on top of packed boxes just begging to be swatted and reviewed but I know I won’t get around to doing it in a timely fashion (#sadface). While the weather outside continues to be frightful (see what I did there?), this collection allows you to escape for a brief moment. Between the pastel pigments, bright lips, and rose colored blushes, this will make you believe Spring is so close (yet so far!). Available now at M·A·C counters and online.

3. Also by M∙A∙C is the new Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick. I was curious what the shade would look like given that Rih made just about very shade possible in her previous collections BUT Viva Glam Rihanna is another pretty red. A blue-red with frost finish, this glides on and surprised me since I typically run far, far away from frost finishes. The lipglass is MAC’s signature with RiRi’s red twist. Bonus: every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Available now at M·A·C counters and online.

4. I’m featured in a Dove ad! I’ll be sharing more information soon but holy heck I’m so excited!!

5. NARS has been killing it lately and quite honestly I am here for it. The Final Cut blush collection is/was bananas (follows my “All Pink Everything” motto for life). Now they’ve introduced the Matte Multiple. The Multiple has been a staple in the brands repertoire since it can be used on cheeks, eyes, and lips. Available in seven shades from ginger pink to golden bronze, the Matte Multiple features a creamy, lightweight formula that delivers buildable, long-lasting, hydrating color. Available now online.

Disclosure: I received samples from MAC for editorial consideration.

More than an address - 34 boulevard Saint Germain

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

It’s no secret I love the French. I’m already planning what I call my Great Escape, the day I flee the U.S. to call France home. I imagine myself wearing a pair of black skinny pants, a striped boat neck shirt, trench coat and super chic cat-eye sunglasses. et maintenant, I have my getaway scent.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, diptyque has launched a perfume capturing the scent of its first boutique located on 34 Boulevard Saint Germain in Paris.

A particular meeting turned out to be decisive. Two years ago, Myriam Badault, director of development of diptyque, and Olivier Pescheux, perfumer at Givaudan, met Roman Kaiser. Profession: “fragrance thief”. In reality, this scientist goes on Scent Treks for Givaudan. He appropriates the perfume we inhale when we lean in to smell the corolla, a fragrance that has nothing to do with the one extracted from plants that have macerated in solvents. An exact copy of nature, in a way. diptyque liked the principle and asked the scientist to put his technology to the service of a dream and poetry and give substance to a unique project: capture the scent of 34 boulevard Saint Germain and put it in a bottle. — diptyque

34 is more than a scent, it’s a personal lesson in the brand’s history all conveniently wrapped into one package. We begin with the top notes, the sparkling and luminous scents of blackcurrant and the green leaves from L’Ombre dans l’Eau and Philosykos, sustained with the freshness of rose pepper and citrus notes, followed by the spices (clove, cinnamon, cardamom, etc.) of L’Eau (the brand’s first eau de toilette). At the heart of the scent are the florals: rose, Egyptian geranium and Do Son tuberose with a dash of iris and violet to maintain a gentle and lively aroma. Finally the dry down consists of a combo of woods, balms and resins.

34 boulevard Saint Germain, is available not only as a perfume to wear, but also as a home fragrance. “They are both based on the same harmonies, but with a different degree of complexity”, specifies Olivier Pescheux. “The home fragrance reveals itself more quickly, in turn fresh, green and spicy. It is rustic and is more suitable for perfuming a place”.

Diptyque 34 Boulevard Saint Germain is available at dyptique locations, dyptiqueparis.com and luxury retailers nationwide.
