Last month, six different people asked me if I was either wearing false lashes or if I had gotten lash extensions à la Amber of Beauty Blogging Junkie. Now, as someone with curly but stumpy lashes, this THRILLED me out of this world because that meant I have finally found my Holy Grail (HG) mascara.
And it cost me under $10.
While I love me some Lancôme Hypnose Drama, sometimes a girl has to budget (and, say, pay Citicard). The mascara that won me over was Maybelline’s XXL Pro™ Extensions Washable. It’s a two step mascara, with one end being the primer (goes on white) and the second step is that actual mascara. First application was a little rough with me only because I never used a two step mascara and was a bit afraid that the white of the primer would be obvious post application.
Thank God I was wrong! This mascara visibly made my lashes longer, not only to me but to others (even fellow beauty bloggers!) It didn’t irritate my somewhat sensitive eyes and made my peepers look fantabulous. Step 1 (primer) actually separated my lashes and the mascara lengthened and intensified my look.
The best part is it lasts all day with no need for touch ups.
Now with all of this praise and talk of HG, would I ever test out another mascara?? Well, I wouldn’t be a beauty blogger if I didn’t 😉
I was recently sent the latest baby from the Maybelline lot- FALSIES by Volum’ Express. I was psyched as Volum’ Express (it comes in the yellow tube!) is one of my favorite mascaras for when I want to create volume. I’ve been known to use Volum’ Express in addition to a lengthening mascara all to get the whole I’m wearing faux lashes look.
The FALSIES Mascara has made my love for XXL Pro Extensions waver a bit simply because I now have the volume of false lashes AND the length that I desire. It has a spoon-shaped brush with an innovative, flexor stem wand that is designed to sit perfectly along the lash line, cupping and fanning out the lashes along the way. This has a wet consistency which I love as drier formulas tend to tug my lashes the wrong way. After using this for a week, I never did more than one coat since it applies just the right amount of product without weighing my lashes down. The secret to this baby’s success is that it coats lashes with a Pro-Keratin fiber-enriched formula that instantly plumps lashes and fills in gaps for a dramatic false lash effect.

Last night I was Google-ing The Falsies, Lash Stiletto, and all the other Maybelline mascaras b/c I need a new budget mascara that works, doesn’t flake, and washes off. (Plus, my old flame was the Full N Soft back in high school).
If you could only recommend ONE Maybelline (or other) mascara to use for life, which would it be?
