1. neglecting to watch the weather report means I wore a turtleneck and big ass sweater in 70 degree weather. 2. men’s deodorant works 3. my bag is a recent conquest from the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale about a week ago. Isn’t she lovely? 4. I’ve grown a healthy obsession with Instagram now that I’m the owner of a lovely iPhone. fa-lo-me
Hope your week is off to a good start! Please don’t forget that you can still help the people of Haiti, donate to the Red Cross today. Thank you.
Rebecca Minkoff is no doubt one of my favorite accessories designers. When she transitioned over to a ready to wear line, I was (of course) excited. Minkoff truly understands her customer as the young gal about town who sometimes wants to carry her life OR simply have a night out with little to no hassles. Her clothing translates into bright, flirty yet office casual.
It was only appropriate that the nails (handled by Haven Spa Soho manicurists) conveyed the same pizazz of bright colors. A candy-striped look, nails were first coated in two layers of essie’s Below the Belt, a dazzlingly bright creamy white. Two coats of vertical pink stripes were then painted with a thin brush with essie’s Pink Parka, a shocking, Barbie-esque shade that made the nails pop to spectators, even sitting from afar the runway.
For the makeup, mark Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mai Quynh created a neutral eyes with bold lip. She started by prepping the model’s skin with mark’s For Goodness Face Moisturizer, followed by Primer for Perfection. Next she applied Min-A-Real Foundation to entire face using mark’s Foundation Brush. Any and all blemishes as well as under eye circles were concealed with Conceal for Real. She dusted Matte-Nificent over entire face & neck using mark’s Powder Brush. Brush Bronze Pro around hairline, down nose and in hollows of cheeks. On the lashes, she applied Lash All You Want Mascara on upper & lower lashes. Finally the look was topped off with Lipclick in Cha Cha & Coral Fixation mixed together and apply to lips using a Lip Brush
Jeanie Syfu for TRESemmé created hair inspired by Diane Keaton from the movie Manhattan. She began by prepping hair with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray, then divide the hair into four sections. Taking each section, tightly twisted the hair around an elastic to make 4 corkscrews. After fastening the corkcrews, hair was diffused with a blow dryer under high heat for 20 minutes. Once hair is cooled down, the elastics were released and hair was brished with a paddle brush for a gorgeous “permed” effect.
PS: Fun fact - Orbit (as in the yummy gum I am partially obsessed with) was an official sponsor of the Rebecca Minkoff spring 2012 show. Fresh breath as you tote your Morning After Clutch down SoHo? Yes please 😉 Photos courtesy of their respective brands. Please don’t forget that you can still help the people of Haiti, donate to the Red Cross today. Thank you.
When I find something I like - albeit a song, food, shirt, or bag - I tend to OVERuse/play/wear said item. Case in point: this blue Zara top. Not only did I purchase one in every color, I must have worn them at least three times. Each. There’s something comfortable about them. Easy to wear. Looks good with anything and everything. And simple. I don’t like anything fussy. Hopefully my coworkers dont notice (I mean, outing myself on a blog probably doesn’t help).

this may seem a bit depressing but i find it quite hard to believe, it’s already July. we’re two weeks into the month (already) and before you know it — BOOM! Fall’s here. perhaps this has hit me so soon because I’m going away in august. I’m going back to the mother land - well, my mother’s land, Haiti - to visit my family again. the two week break smack dab in the middle of the month sorta ruins things as when i come back it’s practically September. while last year’s trip was more about fun and catching up with cousins, this year is more focused on taking care of my grandparents.
aging. it’s so difficult.
while i think way too much about this, I’m forcing myself to enjoy every single minute of my summer. why is it that summer comes and goes but winter lasts forever? no idea. in the meantime, orange flowered skirts for everybody!
Is there anything better than a solid navy colored bag? I’ve always grown up thinking that black was the way to go. It matches everything, classic and never on the “trendy” fence. However, black can get boring. At times it’s so meh. I ventured into the world of navy, first with a cheapo purse from H&M. I warmed up to the idea and finally dived deeper when the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale hit town. I went IN, purchasing two lovely navy bags (first one here).
