PREVIEW: M·A·C Giambattista Valli Collection

Pictures of the M·A·C and Giambattista Valli collection just hit my inbox and it’s too beautiful not to share!
MAC and Giambattista Valli
Fashion designer Giambattista Valli brings his effortless elegance and luxurious celebration of the female form to a stunning collection of timeless lipsticks. There are a total of five lipsticks and one gloss, each housed in a beautiful shade which corresponds with the color inside.
MAC and Giambattista Valli CollectionM·A·C and Giambattista Valli have been working together for almost 10 years ago so it was only fitting for them to create a one- of-a-kind collector’s edition!

Why focus solely on lip products for the collection? “Lipstick can revolutionize a woman’s look. A lipstick shade or texture can radically change the way you are feeling in the moment. Makeup not only completes a look, it often makes the look,” said the designer. “I love the idea of dressing up your lips in couture colors. The matte, highly pigmented shades are very modern and contemporary for a daytime look and then you can add a touch of the lip glaze over the top for a more sophisticated evening look.”
MAC Giambattista Valli CollectionThe lipsticks retail for $17.50 USD ($21.00 CAD) and are:

  • Bianca B: a pale white-pink (matte)
  • Tats: a bright hot pink (matte)
  • Margherita: a yellow bright peach (matte)
  • Charlotte: a rich yellow-red (matte)
  • Eugenie: a dark cherry with blue undertone (matte)

There’s also a Crystal Glaze Gloss ($23/ $27.50) in Lena, a clear with subtly multicolored pearl.

I haven’t received any samples so I can’t comment on wear and pigmentation but M·A·C’s matte lipsticks rarely fail me (especially their newest formulations).

The M·A·C Giambattista Valli collection is available in-store July 9, 2015 through August 2015.

valentine’s day makeup: simple & easy

Are you tired of my Valentine’s Day posts yet? No? Good! This one’s for the girl who doesn’t one to wear a full face and prefers the natural look (and by natural I mean your behind still has to wear a bold lip, mmkay?)

easy valentines day lookCover FX Mattifying Primer // bareMinerals COMPLEXION RESCUE™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream // Milani Rose Powder Blush // Real Techniques Bold Metals Brush // bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush // mark on the edge liner // MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara // Milani Matte Lipstick

So you’re not a cake face. That’s okay! If you prefer a more natural look or are looking for something to provide coerage without clogging your pores check out nareMinerals’ new COMPLEXION RESCUE™ Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. This sheer-to-medium gel gives you slight coverage while hydrating dry skin (perfect for the dry winter air). If you have oily skin, like I do, you can apply Cover FX Mattifying Primer With Anti-Acne Treatment beforehand to control the excess oil. To finish off the face, lightly apply Milani Rose Powder Blush in Tea Rose using Real Techniques‘ new Bold Metals 300 Tapered Blush Brush. Tea Rose is a dusty rose that applies beautifully and provides great coverage.

On the eyes, apply Colour Pop Cosmetics’ TO-A-T eyeshadow- – a matte mid-tone warm brown- across lids for a hint of color and line using mark on the edge liner (winging out a bit). This has been my staple liquid eyeliner because it’s dark and lasts forever without smudging off. Finish off by applying MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara, one of my all time favorite mascaras because it gives volume and length.
Simple valentines makeup
Finish off with Milani’s new matte lipstick in Matte Orchid (fuchsia). This color does require some attention. You’ll have to touch up after eating and the scent may annoy some (smells like watermelon candies).

new in: mac cosmetics viva glam miley

I’ve always been a longtime supporter of M·A·C Cosmetics’ Viva Glam product line because of their commitment to raising funds for the M·A·C Aids Fund. Every cent of the selling price goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Viva Glam MileyFor 2015, M·A·C chose Miley Cyrus to be the next #VIVAGLAM spokesperson and her lipstick is one to add to your beauty wish list. Available now, Viva Glam Miley is a true hot pink lipstick that is suitable for so many different skin tones.
MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam MileyIt’s an amplified formula so it goes on pretty creamy and it’s full of pigment. There was a bit of sip when applied but nothing like when applying a sheer lip color. This is a lipstick that’s for someone who can appreciate a solid bright lip color. As my lips are naturally pigmented, I had to layer up a bit to get the full blown impact I was looking for. Candy Yum Yum is a bit paler and reminds me more of M·A·C’s Girl About Town lipstick, although Girl About Town is slightly darker in tone. I got about four to five hours of wear before it started fading off of my lips.

I didn’t pick up the lipgloss as it had hints of shimmer and the pigment was there at all for me but when paired together, the lip combo would be an intense full on pick. M·A·C Viva Glam Miley is available now.

M·A·C Playland

Guys. We’re at that point where the Spring and summer collections are hitting shelves and I am HERE for it. Give me playful pinks and rocking reds. I want COLOR to adorn my lips and cheeks and I am over the moody colors of winter. The weather is flip flopping making my clothing choices very questionable (I’ve already learned that I do not have a proper spring jacket) but at least I’ll be on point with my makeup.PLAYLAND-AMBIENT-300

M·A·C’s Playland is - according to the brand - a funtastical wonderland where spring becomes a fabulous whirlwind of creativity and amusement. HALLELUJAH!

Make merry in luscious shades of Lipstick and Lipglass in playful pinks, brilliant purples and bright corals, and toy around with a carousel of Casual Colour pots in neon orange and hot pink. Pigments offer the promise of leisure and mirth, and Chromagraphic Pencil adds a cascade of colour to this season’s fun-packed fantasy.

M·A·C Playland is available April 17, 2014.

loving lately: diptyque skincare, mac spring collection, & nars matte multiple

Between packing all of my belongings and an unexpected work trip, it’s been a tad bit busy on the home front so posting here will be a little irregular for the next week or so. Before I depart here are a few things that I’ve been loving, craving, and keeping an eye on:
ADS_Visage_collection
1. diptyque is launching a new range called the L’Art du Soin Facial Skincare Collection in March and I am lining up to purchase. It consists of five skincare products centered around the Damask Rose that looks absolutely beautiful and since I’m already obsessed with the brand’s body care products I’m sure this will be a hit. I can already hear the Infused Facial Water ($55) calling my name. Available in diptyque boutiques in March.

2. I have the M·A·C Fantasy of Flowers collection staring at me on top of packed boxes just begging to be swatted and reviewed but I know I won’t get around to doing it in a timely fashion (#sadface). While the weather outside continues to be frightful (see what I did there?), this collection allows you to escape for a brief moment. Between the pastel pigments, bright lips, and rose colored blushes, this will make you believe Spring is so close (yet so far!). Available now at M·A·C counters and online.

3. Also by M∙A∙C is the new Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick. I was curious what the shade would look like given that Rih made just about very shade possible in her previous collections BUT Viva Glam Rihanna is another pretty red. A blue-red with frost finish, this glides on and surprised me since I typically run far, far away from frost finishes. The lipglass is MAC’s signature with RiRi’s red twist. Bonus: every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Available now at M·A·C counters and online.

4. I’m featured in a Dove ad! I’ll be sharing more information soon but holy heck I’m so excited!!

5. NARS has been killing it lately and quite honestly I am here for it. The Final Cut blush collection is/was bananas (follows my “All Pink Everything” motto for life). Now they’ve introduced the Matte Multiple. The Multiple has been a staple in the brands repertoire since it can be used on cheeks, eyes, and lips. Available in seven shades from ginger pink to golden bronze, the Matte Multiple features a creamy, lightweight formula that delivers buildable, long-lasting, hydrating color. Available now online.
