I’m a sucker for a good awards show. It’s always fun seeing who wins and who loses. When it’s a magazine that announces its annual beauty awards, I get extra excited all to see if my favorite products made the cut.

About a week and a half ago I attended the Women’s Health Beauty Awards preview where I got to see all some of the products chosen by the beauty editors and readers. I got to speak to WH Beauty Editor Alexis Farah who told me that they got so many reader votes that they had to cap it off at 10,000!!!

Power to the people! HA!

Of course there were some oldies but goodies (Cetaphil!) as well as some hitmakers and repeat winning brands (here’s looking at you NARS!).

The issue hits newsstands today (May 25th) so be sure to be on the lookout for it!

While Diane Kruger’s Chanel dress drew stares from some (I personally loved it), her hair was beautifully knotted in a total sexy I-meant-to-do-this way.

So not what happens when you flip your brush the wrong way and end up in tangles. Not that I’ve done that or anything 😉

Her hair was styled by Danilo, Celebrity Stylist for Pantene and here we tell you how to get the look.

Cleanse and condition hair with the Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Shampoo and Conditioner. Mist a leave-in conditioner and the Pantene Pro-V Volume Root Lifter Spray Gel all over damp hair. Blow dry hair upside down to create a voluminous base for styling. Section hair into a side part, divide into three sections (sides and back).

Braid side sections of hair back away from the face in an upward direction creating tightness on the sides. Pull the back section of hair into a high ponytail leaving volume on top. Split ponytail into two sections and twist in a rope-like formation, incorporating side braids into two back twists. Continually twist hair while pinning it into place as the twist braid is knotted up around itself. Mist hair with the Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray to lock style in place. Finish the look with a pretty broche to dress up the look.

Movie star and red carpet fave Rachel McAdams had her tresses done by Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin for Hollywood’s biggest night. The voluminous texture of Rachel’s bun evoked a spring-time look that is effortlessly chic and breathtakingly beautiful.

Seeing as we’re a few days shy of spring, why not learn how to recreate this glam yet totally simple updo for your own everyday wear?? Luckily, I got the rundown so you’re not left hanging in the dark.

Start by applying Sebastian Professional Liquid Gloss to slightly damp hair. Blow dry hair straight with a large round bristle brush to give hair a smooth, polished base and voluminous texture from which to start styling. Next brush hair back and put in a ponytail just above the occipital bone. Secure with bobby pins.

Backcomb the ponytail and start to smooth the hair under using Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray, securing with bobby pins. Do this until all of the hair is tucked under and secured. Apply Sebastian Professional Craft Clay to the top and sides of the head for a textured effect rather than a perfectly-groomed finish. Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray (my FAVE hairspray EVER!!) and gently massage the whole look to give it a disheveled, modern feel.

Ta-da! Now you’ve got yourself a red carpet worthy ‘do. Now about that dress…

Clearly my favorite at this year’s Oscars was the gorge Zoe Saldana. I practically wept when I saw her dress and her makeup looked flawless. Well now I found out how to get her chic and modern updo.

“We wanted to to have an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy,” says TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak. “We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

To get the look, Roszak applied TRESemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse all over her damp hair and blow dried away from the face with volume, flipping head upside down when the hair is almost dry to finish. She separated the crown from the rest of the hair and pulled back sides and back into a tight ponytail. Next she pulled the hair almost all the way through, leaving the ends tucked into the pony tail holder to create a half bun shape. A few pieces were allowed to fall to create that sexy, messy look.

Roszak teased the top of the hair, pulled back to meet the back and pinned, criss-crossing the bobby pins for a secure hold. Lastly she sprayed all over with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray.

Here’s a tip from Roszak: Spray hairspray on finger tips and gently pull the hair around the face with your fingers to loosen the hair, giving it an organic effortless look.

Kate Winslet looked amazing at the Oscars last night wearing a stunning Yves Saint Laurent gown and bold jewelry from Tiffany & Co. worth $2.5 million!

Kate’s long-time makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, topped off the look with makeup that was soft and ethereal. Shimmering, champagne-pewter shades highlighted the eyes, while very saturated mascara delivered that extra definition. A pop of pink blush on her cheeks gave Kate just a hint of a natural flush. Jillian topped off the look with nude-pink lips.
