To be completely honest, I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything from Pop Beauty. I’ve seen the brand at Duane Reade, swatched a few products here and there, but could never get myself to commit. Imagine my surprise when a box filled with their latest release (Velvet Powder Base) landed on my doorstep! I was intrigued given that my love of powders knows no bounds.
The Pop Beauty Velvet Powder Base is designed to be a multi-use powder that can be used as a foundation or to set your makeup.
It’s pretty lightweight so I personally don’t use it as a foundation. It makes a perfect setting powder because it’s silky smooth, very light, and pretty buildable. It blends beautifully into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy or cakey once on. It’s also great to carry for midday touchups to combat shine and/or oiliness.
Pop Beauty’s Velvet Powder Base comes in eight shades (disappointing) but since it’s pretty sheer at first, you won’t look horrible if you find the closest match. I do like that there’s a very fair option and a deep one. My preferred shade is seven (Mocha) and I’ve been using shade eight (Cocoa) as a light contour shade.
Velvet Powder Base and all Pop Beauty products are available at Duane Reade, Walgreen’s, Rite Aid locations and online.
