I honestly have a Sephora shopping problem. I’m visiting my local Sephora on a near weekly basis, not necessarily to shop but to browse. I love seeing what’s new at Sephora. It’s my happy playground. I swatch and test; apply, remove, and reapply; add items to my basket only to remove them at the last minute because honestly just how many serums does a girl really need?
As we near autumn (?), I LOVE seeing what’s coming out in the Fall releases (?) and that means we’re one step closer to HOLIDAY (I love a good gift set). Me being me, I’ve already picked up a few goodies so watch this space for reviews. In the meantime, I wanted to share a mini haul and sorta wish list. A girl could never have too much makeup, IMO.
Okay I received these free samples as a member of Influenster. I’ve always been a fan of MAKE UP FOR EVER but more for their eyeshadows than lipsticks. Yes, they have a few hits but when it comes to lips, I wasn’t really seeking them out for it. That changes now. The new and improved Artist Rouge Lipsticks have 25 percent more pigment than the original Rouge Artist and are super creamy. They quite literally glide on lips without looking patchy, dry, or flaky. There are two finishes in the range: a non-drying matte and a cream finish. I received the shades C502 (Taupe Violet), C404 (Passion Red), and C211 (Rose Wood- my personal favorite).
Sunday Riley is definitely one of those skin care brands that crept up on me. I’ve tried several of their facial oils and am in love with their Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream (used at night). As someone with oily skin, I’m always looking for something to calm. it. down. Formulated with bentonite clay to mattify and help reduce pore size, the Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner was made for those with to oily and acne-prone skin concerns. Also in the formula are marshmallow and green tea to soothe and cool the signs of redness and sensitive skin; cucumber and witch hazel extracts to tone and tighten; and Manuka, black cumin and magnolia bark extracts to act as natural antibacterial properties to balance oily and problem skin conditions. Sign me up! The reviews on this are quite literally tempting. My name has been added to the waitlist when it comes back in stock. I recommend you do the same.
So the toner is out of stock but the $80 face oil isn’t and your girl is contemplating how many days she can go without luxe meals. With 1.5 percent salicylic acid, this promises to be a fast-acting, quick-drying, medicated oil to help clear acne and blackhead-causing buildup and debris from congested pores. It has one of my favorite skin care ingredients – tea tree oil which is known to have help clear acne, while hexylresorcinol and licorice naturally brighten the appearance of old acne discolorations for a more even-toned complexion. I haven’t had luck with their Artemis oil (largely due to the scent) but this one sounds promising. *Adds to basket.*
Okay, guilty. Another item I purchased and have in the queue to review. The foundation releases are non-stop. In addition to this, there’s a post coming up featuring the new Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation AND the new ABH full coverage stick foundation. Needless to say, I’ve been keeping busy! Hourglass’ Vanish Foundation claims to be a foundation and concealer in one. Since it is infused with double the amount of pigment versus traditional foundations, it’s definitely more of a full coverage. As the temperature cools off and I can wear makeup without sweating it off the minute I exit my building, I look forward to wearing this. The claim “…long-wearing, waterproof formula provides 12 hour coverage, and the innovative formula adjusts to your body temperature to effortlessly blend into the skin.” Hopefully this means my shade will match? I purchased Almond (medium deep with a cool undertone) but I’m pretty sure I meant to take Golden Almond as I have more of a golden undertone. Watch this space. Subscribe to my YouTube channel as I’ll be doing a first impression of this foundation.
Another one. Told you this was a mini haul ?. I haven’t had much luck with the Lock It foundation but as I look to step my concealer game up, I just hd to pick this up. Lock-It Concealer Crème promises to brighten the undereye area, cover blemishes, correct discoloration, contour, AND bake. A pretty hefty claim if you ask me. We’ll see how that holds up. I will say finding the right shade was pretty daunting. I eventually settled on Deep 37 Warm because I was looking for something to brighten (Deep 39 didn’t really do much for me).
I’ve had my eyes on these shadows for quite some time since tarte released them on their website a few weeks ago. I didn’t bite the proverbial bullet simply because I need to swatch them before committing. I’ve seen a few good reviews but my experience with tarte powders are hit or miss– and I mean everything from highlighting powders to eyeshadows. All of their palettes have a few key home run eyeshadows but also a few duds. Since it is a metallic formula, I’m hoping they’ll be more intense! Bonus: tarte made it easy to de-pot these and place them in a magnetic palette (I’m a fan of the Z palette).
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been drooling over NARS’ fall campaign. Everything from the model to the products are absolutely gorgeous. I was sent the Sculpting Multiple Duo and honestly it is life. It has everything you need to brighten or shade. The fact that it’s a stick means you can throw it in your makeup bag for a midday touch up or end of day zhoosh up your look before dinner. It comes in three different shades and my favorite is Hot Sand & Laguna, although Flamenco & Oahu is coming in really close.
So these are a few items that are new at Sephora. Have you seen anything that caught your eye? Let me know in the comments or tweet me!
