Here’s a surprise to exactly no one – I’m obsessed with headphones. I don’t mean just any kind either – I want ’em BIG and LOUD. I love it when the music surrounds me, enhances the beat, pumps the bass, and provides crystal clear sounds.

I received the SOL Republic Tracks HD headphones a few days back and I’m now torn on which I love more – my new Tracks HD or the Beats I caved and purchased a few weeks back. As someone who primarily listens to hip hop, rap, soca, reggae (and then pop) I look for something that provides a sick bass. When I first started listening to music on the Tracks HD (first song was “Rack City” natch), I was blown away. The sound engines (earcups) started thumping and, yes, I got hype.

sol republic headphones blueTracks HD are the first interchangeable headphones and not only offer great sound but amazing technology. Constructed of a seriously advanced polymer compound, their FlexTech™ Sound Track headband is built to withstand heavy abuse. This means if you’re like me and tend to just throw your headphones in your bag (or, ahem, fall asleep with them on), it can be twisted, bent, and dropped without fear of breaking. Also, you can switch out the headband which is like getting a new set every time! The three-button Mic + Music Control lets you adjust the volume, pause/resume/skip music and answer/hang-up calls. My only cons would be that they don’t bend like my Urbanears, Beats, and Fanny Wang but the Tracks HD comes with a slim-fit carrying case. And really, that’s miniscule compared to everything that you get! The simple fact that the headbands can be twisted and the like without breaking — I’ll take it and not complain.

The most wonderful time of the year was upon us last week in New York City, and I don’t mean the holidays. Sample sale season. It’s the time of the year when brands decide to put last season’s (and sometimes current) products up for grabs so us mere mortals can actually afford it, although some brands will always be out of financial reach. While I don’t consider myself a complete bargain hunter or a budget fashionista, I do look out for sales and deals simply because I’m stubborn and will not pay full price for something if there’s a more affordable option.

Case in point: these 3.1 Phillip Lim draped silk crepe pants that I got for 75 bucks (retail $375). Their perfectly slouchy and are pleated, comfortable, and stylish. See also, these J. Crew Mona pumps which are actually on sale now online (shop here). Although I bought it a wee too big (I had on thick tights when I tried them on), they’re still a good fit and perfect for work. Every girl should have a pair of nude pumps and it baffled me that I never owned a pair! Winner, winner, chicken dinner…

here’s my dilemma: come colder climates, I tend to give up on looking somewhat human and opt for something comfortable and warm. In the past, it wasn’t stylish, simply frumpy. This season, I’m making it my mission to not only keep warm but look good in the process. There’s no reason to give up just because the weather is not on my side.

I was recently gifted this scarf, which is part of the Anna Karenina collection by Banana Republic, which definitely takes dressing warmly up a notch. It’s pretty versatile and can definitely see it being heavily rotated. See also: this amazingly awesome bag. While it isn’t “seasonally appropriate” (whatever that means) due to it’s bright color BUT it’s too gorgeous to tuck away for Spring.

I think it’s time I come clean and admit that I have quite the shopping problem. While it’s no surprise, it came at me full speed as I walked home carrying yet another shopping bag, this time toting the cutest French bulldog sweater. Ever.

I can’t resist you J. Crew!

Not to mention the following day I got TWO packages in the mail: shoes and jewelry, natch. It’s a serious problem. I shop to make myself happy so it looks like I need a new hobby (or at least a therapist). That all said, I’m putting myself on a no shopping mission (for real this time). It may involve me going into my current wardrobe, analyzing what I have (or what I can sell to make some extra moolah), and where I may need to invest. How long is this mission? Until 2013. Or at least Holiday 2012 (a girl gotta buy herself something sweet for her birthday).

EGADS – it hurts just typing that! Pray for me…

fun fact: yesterday was a pretty warm Fall day in the city. Did that stop me from breaking out the faux fur vest? NO! Are you kidding? The minute I received this vest in the mail, I knew it was going to be in constant rotation. It’s pretty big compared to what I currently own so I decided to cinch the waist in a bit. I’m still trying to learn how to style it but I think I did good, no?
