Pantene's BIG News...

This morning I woke up to find an email from my homies at Pantene about some really BIG news. Except...they didn't tell WHAT the news was! Obviously curiosity is getting to me and the fact that I have to wait 24 hours to find out is KILLING me! I've decided to do some sleuthing and all I can come up with is that the brand is revamping itself...

Exhibit A
From Pantene's Facebook page

So far I do know...

---Tomorrow there will be a LIVE webcast at 12 PM EST hosted by Stacy London (LOVE her!!) who will reveal the new Pantene ambassador. Make sure you follow London on Twitter (www.twitter.com/stacylondonsays)

---Also I know that I will be tuning in and tweeting all throughout the webinar (follow me @MissWhoeverUR). If you plan to be tweeting use the hashtag #PanteneWebcast or #NewPanteneStar (gotta have a hashtag!)

If you're like me and can't wait for the news, follow the brand on Twitter- @Pantene- and check their Facebook page for clues today and Thursday morning to try to figure it out!

Tune into the webcast tomorrow at www.pantene.com/webcast. See you at noon tomorrow!

What's in MY Makeup Bag???

On the most boring of days- or when I'm desperately trying to procrastinate from, say, writing my senior thesis- I haunt YouTube for the "What's in my bag" tag that often goes around.

There's something quite...fun...about finding out what other girls/women carry in their handbags and makeup bags. It's interesting to see what makes the cut into your everyday routine. True beauty girls know what I mean. You want to know what products your friends are using and maybe, just maybe, you should get that too.

Well now I'm opening up MY makeup bag. It typically changes depending on my mood but today, in the Starbucks on Astor Place, I decided to whip out my camera and show you what I'm toting around. Let the snooping begin...

The makeup bag itself is a small cosmetics case by Betsey Johnson and I love love love love it. Small but powerful, I say, because it seems to hold TONS of makeup without looking like it's stuffed.

From left to right, here's the rundown:

  • MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline: Feline is often re-promoted and when it is, I know girls who will STOCK UP and yes, I fall into that category. It's a super soft pencil that lines amazingly. It's one of the darkest blacks that I own.
  • As if I needed ANOTHER pencil, right next to Feline  is Stila's latest arrival the Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. Now typically for liquid eye liners, I stick to my trusty Lancome Artliner but I decided to get this to test for the blog. At least that's what I tell myself.
  • Lancôme Tropiques Minérale Pressed Bronzer in Natural Sunbath: as you guessed (well, read) this is a bronzer but considering that it doesn't have shimmer and that it's dark enough, I use it as pressed powder. I typically set my foundation with this and then use it for any touch ups throughout the day. Works just as fine.
  • Directly underneath that is my favorite lip gloss in the world, Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Solaire. Color Fever Glosses are simply amazing and Solaire is the perfect orangey-pink color that looks great layered over lipstick but is even more unbelievable when worn alone. It also makes Lancome's Chris and Tell lipstick much more wearable.
  • Underneath that baby is Kim Kardashian Eau de Parfum Rollerball. Ummm...6 different Sephoras and one intense love of Kim Kardashian led me to this perfume. Heavier scent yet totally sexy.
  • Lancôme Définicils Mascara in Deep Black: this is a drier formula compared to most mascaras I use and I'm only using it because I'm out of Hypnose Drama. It separates lashes and elongates them but I'm more of a volume seeking kinda gal.
  • MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence: This came out as part of the Too Fabulous collection (still available online and at some MAC Cosmetic counters). Over Indulgence is a neutral brown and is a perfect nude color for me (although it IS super glossy looking).
  • Speaking of nudes, MAC 3N Lipglass has permanent residency in my makeup bag because it is truly the PERFECT nude for brown girls. For some reason I only bought ONE when it was re-promoted back in December's Warm and Cozy collection. Why did I only get one, the world will never know. So I pray that it is once again re-released. Are you listening MAC??!
  • YSL Rouge Volupte in Luscious Pink (23): Best. Lipstick. Ever. It's light and creamy but completely full coverage. Luscious Pink is a great everyday pink color- on me it's not quite nude but it's not a hot pink by any means.
  • Lancome Petit Precision Cheek Brush (#21): I only carry this brush because it's small enough to fit in my makeup bag. It does a great job at applying blush BUT blending is BEYOND difficult with it. I actually prefer applying liquid foundation with this brush because it is a firm brush and blending liquid is much easier than blending powders.
  • MAC Powder blushes in Dirty Plum (top) and All's Good (bottom): Let me tell you-- Dirty Plum is unbelievable on dark skin!! I'm more of a pink blush girl but have fully converted to plums all because of this baby. Dirty Plum came out in Riveting and is now available with the Liberty of London collection (if you can still find it in stores, I suggest getting it especially since it comes in the gorgeous packaging!) All's Good beauty powder blush came out in MAC's All Ages, All Races, All Sexes collection back in January. I just got it courtesy of my homie Sarah from Styleitonline.com. I'm soooo happy she gave it to me since it's a perfect everyday color. Anyone with a deep skin tone can benefit from this (it's currently on mac's goodbyes section of the website so hurry!). It's a brown color with hints of shimmer but the shimmer is so light, however, so if you're expecting full on sparkle keep moving. On a fairer skin tone this might just look dirty on you so beware.

WHEW!!

I know that seems like a lot but this is what I consider a light day..ha! Some days I carry my foundation with me, and sometimes I carry more than one mascara. One day I will learn to carry just one or two things, but until then...this is me.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Diaries

As a college senior, I know a thing or two about lack of sleep. Sure a lot of if is self induced (staying up 'till 2am to "study"...) but that doesn't negate the fact that lack of sleep brings about tired looking eyes and a very cranky Eileen.

When I learned that Kiehl's launched midnightrecoverydiaries.com, my curiosity was peaked. Kiehl's reached out to six busy professionals and self proclaimed Kiehl's fans and challenged to “recover their sleep life” for 15 days. These pro's include singer/songwriter Tamar Kaprelian, fashion designer Lela Rose, writer Nick Burns, social entrepreneur Bonnie Morrison, eco-consultant Beth Doane and creative director Bianca Kosoy.

The challenge was to (1) go to bed by midnight, (2) catch at least 7 hours of sleep a night, (3) treat their skin with Kiehl’s new Midnight Recovery Concentrate, and (4) blog about it on midnightrecoverydiaries.com. Kiehl's Midnight Recover Concentrate is formulated to boost the repair and regeneration of skin when it is naturally programmed to best absorb active ingredients, typically between midnight to 4 a.m.

Be sure to check out the blog and see the results of the participants!

ELLE 2010 Genius Awards

Last night, I logged onto Facebook for the first time in about three weeks (sorry, but I'm more of a Twitter person, HA!) and noticed that Lancôme had congratulated makeup artist Aaron De Mey since he was awarded with an ELLE Genius Award. Aaron De Mey is Lancôme's artistic director for makeup and I think he's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

I first heard of Aaron De Mey after Marina of makeup loves me blogged about Lancôme's Luxe Lips Set created by De Mey. Luxe Lips hit the blogosphere like wildfire as the star product, Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black, had beauty junkies everywhere losing their minds (because wouldn't you too go nuts for BLACK LIPGLOSS?!)

I won't lie...I haven't always been a devoted Lancôme-er, I thought of it as a brand my mother would use (something I never uttered while an intern for fear of being called out on the Lancome blog haha). I became a Lancôme devotee under De Mey's reign. He did, after all, create Declaring Indigo which was my favorite collection in all of 2009.
Aaron De Mey and myself in Paris

I got to meet the New Zealand born makeup artist last November while in Paris to preview Lancôme's Spring 2010 collection, Ô My Rose. He has this rock and roll look (his shoes had studs for crying out loud!) but he has this calm and relaxing voice that I could have listened to for hours. He brings a newness to Lancôme, one that I feel can only strengthen the brand as time goes by.

So congrats to Aaron De Mey and I can't wait to see what he thinks of next for the brand!

Soldier Bans Swimsuit Competition in Pageants

After you detain and disarm a rebel figher in Iraq, what can you possibly do next to top that??

Drop the swimsuit portion of a beauty pageant. Duh.
Lance Cpl. Katrina Hodge
British army woman, Lance Cpl. Katrina Hodge, has convinced the organizers of the Miss England pageant to drop the popular pageant segment, stating that posing in swimsuits isn't fair, nor is it necessary since beauty queens rarely wear simsuits at public events.

"I think it's nerve-racking enough to girls to get up on a stage and speak, let alone in a swimsuit," said the former beauty queen.

Given the nickname "Combat Barbie" by her army colleagues, Hodge is represened England in the Miss World pageant in 2009 and is also a lingerie model for La Senza.

So what will England do now? According to Miss England national organiser, Angie Beasley, the girls will be doing a sports round showcasing their sports skills.

As someone who once participated in beauty pageants and watches them religiously, I don't know what to think of this. I love the swimsuit segment but it honesly serves no purpose. Each girl totters on stage in the same bikini by the same company (normally a sponsor of the event) and we at home judge and poke (Her boobs are fake, Is that cellulite?) while judges literally give them a number and tell them they're perfect.

I'm more of an evening gown kinda gal :)

Perhaps more countries will follow suit seeing as this will alleviate some pressure off of these girls to be "perfect". Venezuela is known for spending millions of hours and dollars grooming its candidates for beauty competitions. To some in the South American country, dieting and cosmetic surgery are not compulsory but commonplace nonetheless. Osmel Sousa, president of the Miss Venezuela Organization, argues that plastic surgery is necessary correct “imperfections.” Heck even in the US pageeant officials have been known to pau for boob jobs for their girls (ummm...Carrie Prejean).

Will the world follow suit? Maybe, maybe not. That's something we'll all have to wait to find out.

Ciara, Adrienne Bailon, Agyness Deyn and more for Adidas Original Spring 2010

Adidas Originals created an all star cast for their Spring 2010 campaign and allowed THEM to film it.

Model turned everything Agyness Deyn is joined by R&B singer Ciara, reality star turned designer Whitney Port, pro tennis player Ana Ivanovic, singer/ Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, model Tallulah Morton, British TV host Louise Roe, and singers Cheer Chen and Hyori Lee as faces of the Spring 2010 collection for Adidas Originals. The athletic wear brand handed the camera over to the girls to film a behind the scenes-esque ad which also allows viewers to shop the look each girl is wearing.

For the video (above), the girls are seen dancing to the remix of Friendly Fires' "Paris". My favorite would definitely have to be Aggy Deyn who rocks a rhinestone embellished Adidas football jersey with biker shorts and Jeremy Scott for Adidas Originals high-tops. The "WTF?" look definitely goes to Whitney Port who sports the "Fafi All-in-One-Suit," basically a flowery onesie. While I love me some Fafi, Port just isn't the girl to be wearing this. She looks like she's wearing pajamas.

Adidas Originals also launched an interactive look book on its site that allows viewers to use their mouse to "grab" bits of the film reel and links to the outfits worn by each girl. Pretty clever, no?

Visit the interactive version: http://www.adidas.com/originals/womenslookbook.

Wipe On, Wipe Off: Bioré Makeup Removing Towelettes

On a good night, I get home and wash my face using a cleanser that focuses on acne and wicked makeup removal.

I repeat, on a good night.

On a normal night, however, I get home, bum rush my bed and fall asleep within seconds of hitting the mattress. On nights such as these, I keep makeup wipes right next to my bed to allow makeup removal ten seconds before shut eye. The problem with most makeup wipes is that they do not remove all of my makeup and I wake up with mascara flakes everywhere OR they remove everything including every oil in my skin and leave my face feeling tight and itchy.

Enter Bioré's new Makeup Removing Towelettes which remove every smidge of makeup. These makeup towelettes are infused with Green Tea extract which is known for its antioxidant and detoxifying properties. There are no artificial dyes so those with sensitive skin should be able to use it without irritation or reactions.

My only problem is that it typically takes two makeup towelettes to fully remove everything, especially mascara (and even then it doesn't remove everything). My face does feel super dry after using the wipes which can get annoying but it's nothing a little bit of moisturizer can't handle. Plus, it's much easier than, say, walking to my bathroom and actually washing my face.

Laziness at it's best.

The wipes are available wherever Bioré products are sold and online.

Something to make me smile...

What feels like eons ago, I received a nice comment from Romany the creative genius behind the blog, the robins.

It's also a famous blog tag which are usually loads of fun. The rules are simple:
1. post the logo on my blog.
2. pass it on to 15 other blogs.

I've avoided posting this on my site because I was legit thinking of who to pass it. And I kept on drawing blank! I love so many blogs and it's hard to choose, so I'm passing this off to...YOU.

Such a rule breaker, aren't I??

If you want to participate in this tag, simply post it and leave a link to the post in the comments section below =) Many thanks t Romany and if you haven't ever been to her site...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!

Sweet Escape...

OH MY MOTHER OF ALL THINGS HOLY AND BEAUTIMOUS.

yes...beautimous....

For the past two weeks or so, I've have been playing with Maybelline's latest collection and dare I say I love this more than a cupcake itself???

Maybelline New York released its latest collection for spring and it's called Sweet Thing Collection. Sweet Thing is a delicious array of products in vintage pastel colors available for a limited time, beginning this month. This collection has got you covered as it's comprised of nail polishes, lip glosses, eye shadow duos and cream eyeshadow sticks.

While we all know I'm pretty much a gloss girl (result of being a product of the 90s), I have fallen head over heels for the nail polishes. Yes, sweet darlings, ME...a POLISH girl. The nail colors are creamy and the brush is wide enough to cover the nail without spilling over to the finger. Non streaky and super coverage is the name of this game. My mani lasted me a full week and the only reason it came off was because I took it off.

Can I get an AMEN!?

My favorite of the bunch would definitely have to be Excite-mint, which is a pastel green that garnered so many compliments and a whole lotta "Are you wearing Chanel Jade"...

No honey, it's Maybelline and it's amazing.

Make sure you get them while you can ladies because when Maybelline says "Limited Edition" they mean "it will sell out and you will regret not buying it"...

Just sayin... ;)

The Sweet Thing Collection is available at mass retailers nationwide (think CVS, etc.) and ranges from $4.00 to $7.00.

Vivienne Tam x Monster Collaborate For "Butterfly Lover" Headphones

Last month, I had the honor to be invited to Vivienne Tam’s SoHo boutique to get the first look at her “Butterfly” In-Ear Headphones. Tam has collaborated with Monster, the brand behind the infamous Beats by Dr. Dre and, of course, the Lady Gaga headphones. Monster Cables is pioneer in advanced consumer electronics accessories and is rapidly becoming one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium headphones.

Noel Lee, founder of Monster Cable heralded Beats as part os a lifestyle and wanted the "BUtterfly" headphones to be "part of your outfit". This collob is the perfect example of technology and lifestyle in fashion. Lee also boldly stated, "Young people never heard good sound before".

Ummm...excuse me?

But as I sat in the audience, I thought about it and he was right. Often when listening to music I crank up the volume so loud, my mother thinks I'm deaf. With the "Butterfly" headphones, there was none of that. I got to listen to a few songs through the headphones and was amazed at the clarity held within the small equipment. It's unlike the Gaga headphones because it is lighter in sound whereas Gaga was like having sub woofers in your ears (as a pop artist it's necessary as her music has all sorts of instruments that need to be heard).

"Vivienne is a very forward thinking designer marrying fashion and technology," said Lee. This, we all know to be true as Tam first collided the two worlds last year with her collaboration with HP for the Peony netbook.

Like the new HP Mini “Butterfly Lovers” Digital Clutch, the new patent-pending Butterfly headphones (MSRP: $199.00) mirrors the “Butterfly Lovers” theme of Tam’s Spring 2010 collection. The headphones are made with a light gold-brushed finish and colorful butterfly images on the earpieces. The small wires are feminine and mimic that of fine jewelry.

Wendy of nitrolicious modeling the new Vivienne Tam mouse and earbuds, HA! love her jewels!

The Vivienne Tam "Butterfly" headphones will retail for $199.00 and ships in April.
