You Ain’t Never Been Blue…No No

You ain’t never been blue, no, no, no
You ain’t never been blue
Till you’ve had that mood indigo
That feeling goes stealing down to my shoes
While I just sit here and sigh
Go along blues

-Nina Simone “Mood Indigo”

You know a product is amazing when you get more compliments on it than you’ve ever gotten on a single product. Ever. For the past two weeks, I have been wearing Lancôme’s Gel Ink Artliner in Indigo Charm (part of their Declaring Indigo collection for Fall ’09). For me to write about a gel eyeliner says loads about this little jar of blue. I’ve tried [unsuccessfully] once to use gel eyeliners and something always goes awry- the pigmentation isn’t enough, product slides everywhere- something always goes wrong. Lancome’s Ink Artliners are a gel-based eyeliner formula that feels creamy, without being overly creamy.

But while wearing Indigo Charm (left), I have fallen in L-O-V-E simply because of it’s intensity, longevity, and smudge proof nature. Indigo Charm is a rich, navy blue with slight blue shimmer and a little sheen. This color really makes my peepers pop (I dare you to say that five times fast…”really makes my peepers pop, really makes my peepers pop, really makes my peepers pop…”)

Never have I ever seen a blue so deep and rich in color while staying on my lid for hours. HOURS!! Once this is on the lid, it does not move (perfect because it allows me to skip an eye primer…one less step in my 1,245,567 hour beauty routine). What I also love about this is it’s ability to transform from an eyeliner to an all over lid color. The dry down is fairly matte– what I love since I am highly opposed to the “dewy” look.

Dewy means greasy in my world.

What you see is what you get (WYSIWIG…the one thing I took away from my sophomore year computer science class) with these little pots- they look much like they do in their pots. Would I recommend this to anybody??

Heck I recommend this to EVERYBODY! If you’re a woman of color, get this. Now*. It really brightens up the eye area. The blue pops out against your brown skin so lovely, you’ll never be able to wear another blue again without comparing it to this.

At least I won’t.

*I swear I’m not this bossy/impatient in real life. Just a little bit.
