I'm weird like that.
What makes it even better is when the label has done it's part in to help people out, not only
with affordable and stylish clothing, but in the global economy as well.I was recently introduced to a line called Kristinit which does just that.
For it's Fall 2009 Collection (because fashion is always so far ahead...I'm looking for my swimsuit!), Kristinit introduces the LOVE Campaign.
Its mission: a holistic approach to high fashion, one that links social responsibility with sumptuous, sustainable fabrics and playfully classic designs.
"The LOVE Campaign was inspired by a desire to introduce a more integrated approach to designing and manufacturing a high collection." Lenss says. "This collection is about complementing the beauty of women with the beauty of sustainability — without sacrificing style."
AMEN!
The collection embraces versatility and elegance. The 30’s-era classicism of knee-grazing hemlines and belted day dresses play hopscotch with Victorian demureness and Faye Dunaway '60's chic. Custom designed fabrics and innovative tailoring make the pieces ultra-modern. Attention to detail is key to the collection, like dramatic circle sleeves that bring daintiness to smoky, monochromatic tunics.
For this collection, design consultant ZoĆ« Melo, collaborated with Brazilian artisan weavers to create handmade custom lace pieces. As a neckline Cameo, the lace is a seductive contrast to the simple black dress, but it becomes fairy-tale sweet on an princess-line, strapless bodice. This partnership supports fair trade and links women and beauty across the globe. This marriage of traditional craftsmanship and trend-forward design is set against the backdrop of the line’s devotion to nature: from design inspiration to fabric selection to construction. Kristinit continues to manufacture locally in Los Angeles, minimizing pollution and supporting the local economy, and its innovative fabrics like ultra-fine cupro and organic silks are low-impact but feel glamorous.
From black-and-white Indian silk motifs to hourglass silhouettes and nipped waistlines, the LOVE Campaign is indeed supremely ladylike—and oh-so-easy to fall in love with.
I love how pretty much all of the dresses are simple enough to wear to work (throw a cardigan over it) yet beautiful enough to go out to eat later on that night (sans cardigan). Versatility and chic all in one. Gotta love it!
