Back to the show.
Backstage at the Cushnie et Ochs show, I had the opportunity to speak to the fab people of Creative Nail Design (CND) to get the scoop on what was happening behind the scenes. The clothes were described as "robotic" and "incomplete" so to compliment it, the nail artists cleaned up the nails and highlighted only one nail (super fun and cool idea). As a base, they used Serenity nail polish. Serenity is a flattering neutral color that anyone can wear. Next they highlighted one nail with either Voodoo (a dark black color), Creme Puff (a white color that oddly reminds me of White Out), or Silver Anniversary (a beautiful glittery silver that made me drool upon sight).
The look was "clean but ooh" and the one highlighted nail proved excitement to the hands. It's something unexpected- a clean set of nails and that one finger set different from the rest- absolutely loved the idea.
This is a super cute and super fun idea that can be easily recreated (Thank God). Out of all the colors, I loved loved loved Silver Anniversary and foresee a recreation of this look on my own hands.
CND Nail Pro, Amanda Fontanarrasa, gives us this tip "If a model smudges a nail at the last minute backstage, I simply glide a tiny bit of acetone over the nail with the pad of my finger to smooth out the enamel".
GENIUS! I've been known to smudge a nail or two the second after pulling my lipgloss out of my super heavy bag with no time to run back to fix it.
Stay tuned for more updates and pics of New York Fashion Week F/W 2009.
