I have never been so proud and hopeful. I've tried not to use my blog as a platform on which I speak politics. I never put any Obama widgets on my sidebars and have only comment on Michelle's awesomely wonderful Thakoon dress.
But today, I sit here slightly teary eyed (still) and filled with pride for this country. And while many of criticized Michelle for saying this...I shall repeat it:
"… for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”
Yeah I said it. Ok, I admit...my "adult life" has just began..hehe
This country hasn't always been so wonderful...and don't get me wrong I know we have ways to go. But today, I am happy that lives weren't lost for nothing.
Little Rock Nine. Freedom Riders. Turner. Harriet Tubman. Sojourner Truth. Emmett Till. Rosa Parks. Medgar Evers. Thurgood Marshall. Tuskeegee Experiment. Michael A. Donald. James Byrd. Those who marched at Selma.

"I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you." - Barack Obama, Election Night 2008
