Sophomore year of high school, one of my good friends mother passed away from breast cancer. She had only found out months before but was having issues with paying (she didn't have health insurance) but none of us were expecting her to die. Seeing my friend go through that ordeal was painful and ever since I've been trying my best to help get rid of this disease. Breast cancer also hit close to home when my aunt was diagnosed with having it about two months ago. But we aren't worrying because progress has been made and we're hoping for the best.

Mammography is especially valuable as an early detection tool because it can identify breast cancer at an early stage, usually before physical symptoms develop, when the disease is most treatable.

Yearly mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing for as long as a woman is in good health.

Fact: At this time, breast cancer cannot be prevented, which is why regular mammograms are so important; they can find breast cancers early, when they are easier to treat.
