Kelly Cutrone: What a bad lie!

So the other day an article was brought to my attention about bloggers and Fashion Week. It's in the the New York Observer and was written on Sept. 2. This article is basically, saying why the fashion biz a) doesn't really respect blogs, and b) why we (bloggers) aren't "good enough" to attend shows

Why am I talking about it a full 4 days later??

Well, because in it Kelly Cutrone, PR mogul and Whitney's boss in The Hills, said:

“I don’t want to sound completely outdated because I’m in fashion and we’re not the quickest as far as technology goes,” Ms. Cutrone said. “But at this point in time, the blogging world is the Wild West. It’s a new media, and we’re all the rats in the laboratory in what this is going to mean. … Once something has been said, it’s like taking a nail and putting it in a piece of wood. You can take the nail out, but the hole is still there. Once it’s up on the Internet, you can’t get it off; it’s just there forever.”

Well, looks like social media and blogging isn't that far West for Ms. Cutrone because she has a video blog on my fave site New York Magazine: The Cut. Her blog name: The Cutrone Minute.

Oh this isn't Kelly's first time blogging...oh no! Last January, she blogged on Fashion Week Daily's site and it was called "Return of the Blog: Kelly Cutrone Reports" and "Return of the Blog: Part Deux".

Now I have absolutely nothing against Kelly Cutrone. As a matter of fact, I have nothing but RESPECT for that woman. She founded a company that is now one of the BIGGEST in the industry. People know not to mess with her and she's great at what she does.

But.

And there's always a but...

"... we’re not the quickest as far as technology goes..." - really? You seem up to date now.

But, like I said, I have nothing against her. She is still up there on my list of Power Women (don't get me started...I don't think I've left the era of "girl power"...). Hell I (in some odd way) aspire to be like her- have my own successful PR firm...run the world...basically the only difference would be that I'm black...and I wear makeup =)

I totally agree with what you said. And I'm not trying to be rude, but since she's in the fashion industry, shouldn't she try to style herself better? By getting one glance at her, and not knowing who she is, I definitely wouldn't think she worked in the fashion industry.
