Behind the Scenes at Creative Nail Design

WARNING: FASHION WEEK CAUSES SOME BLOGGERS TO GET CLICK HAPPY WITH THEIR CASIO 10.0 MP CAMERA-- ESPECIALLY WHEN INVITED TO SEE SOME MAJOR COLOR CREATIONS GOING AROUND. THIS POST IS EXTREMELY PICTURE HEAVY. ALSO, WE OVER AT MISS WHOEVER-YOU-ARE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXTREME FEELINGS OF LUST THAT YOU WILL HAVE THIS FALL SEASON.

I'm just sayin'...

Ok so during Fashion Week, I had the fabulous opportunity to go visit the the studio for Creative Nail Design. If you don't know, CND is one of the most MAJOR forces behind the nail looks you see on the runways.

Nail design created for The Blonds

Sequined nails for The Blonds show. There's up to 30 sequins on each nail. 30!

What impressed me most about CND was the fact that they have been around for 30 years (10 years my senior!) and have their own labs with 9 on site chemists. So rather ship 'em off to France to do all the mixing and matching...they do it here in the goold ole US of A.

Patriotic non?
Well Jan Arnold (the founder) et staff must really love what they do because for the past 2 years they have been mixing and matching and thinking up of the trends we all lusted after this past fashion week. Yup, for the past 2 years someone has been thinking of what color you will place on your nails for Spring 2009. Crazy?!?! Hell, I can't even decide what outfit I'm going to wear tomorrow let alone within the next two years.

But for Spring 2009 sheer is definitely a no go! It's all about the faded pastels or the really creamy, opaque (as seen at ThreeasFour ), or really mauve-y colors (on the toes which really lets the shoes be prominent as opposed to this past spring 08 where everyone was rockin' the neon yellows and fuschia pinks!). Kind of like a haunted dollhouse or that the colors "used to be bright and crisp but they were hidden in the attic".
You had me at dollhouse.

Check out the inspiration boards.

The theme for Summer 2009 is "Wanderlust" kind of like this traveler girl who finds litle trinkets whever she goes. Heavily influences by beading and embroidery-lots of spiced colors for summer '09.

Sorry for the blurry-nes factor but trying to take pictures AND take notes at the same time WHILE being all googly eyed is SO not a good thing.

Color stories for various shows (Karen Walker, Baby Phat-more on that show later-, Araks, Brian Reyes, and what we'll be wearing Summer 2009).

Oh and those dark vampy colors you're going to be rockin' this Fall...don't throw those away honey (not that you'd ever want to, right?). Looks like dark is haniging around for Spring as well.
