Muse of the Moment: Keri Hilson

Ever since I saw her collabo with Timbaland in "The Way I Are" I have been permanently obsessed with Keri Hilson. Don't ask me why 'cuz I honestly don't know. But every time I see a picture of her she doesn't disappoint. That girl looks fierce and her makeup game is on point!

Why am I gushing? Because I did something I swore I wouldn't (to my friends and my mom)- I cut my hair again.

I don't quite know what my obsession with short hair is but I do know it started two years ago, the summer before I started college. I was convinced that I needed a new 'do o start college. So I chopped off my hair and got a bob (I am SUCH a trendsetter I got that bob before Rihanna...that should be called the Eileen cut...but I don't get my picture taken every minute so Rihanna won that battle). This was a serious move that I wasn't quite ready for. I didn't realize how short the bob really was and cried my eyes out...even my mom was upset...I went from having hair that reached what would normally be considered my boobies (but I'm not so well endowed..hehe) to something that just grazes my chin.

Traumatic.

But ever since then I couldn't keep my hair long. I chopped it off every chance I got. The longest it's gotten was about an inch past my shoulders and I just cut it again.

My muse/inspiration:
if you know me you know I LOVE/am partially obsessed with my bangs. So Keri's blunt bangs was just what I got. But my bangs are slightly longer (I like my bangs covering my eyes). This cut isn't that short so it's not that dramatic/ noticeable. My mom had to kind of stare at me before she realized I whacked off about 3 inches of my hair.

I love how the cut frames her face and that was pretty mcuh the effect I was going for. There are alot of things to take into consideration (apparently) when cutting your hair and one thing I took serious was the shape of my face. Like I said I wanted something that would suit my face and kind of accentuate my features a nit more. I Love that I have blunt bangs because that kind of brings the focus to my eyes (which is normally just lined in black eyeliner). I think that'll force me to do play with some more eye makeup =) The layers from there on is really cool- I have an oval shaped face so layer work wonders.

Now I've been dying to color my hair (I've been debating about this for the past three years!) and looks like Keri shows some inspiration again!

Is this NOT the most PERFECT shade of brown you have EVER seen??!?!?!!?! (what was the deal with all those CAPS... I have no idea I just got a little excited hehe). But I'm not going to color my hair until end of summer when the sun isn't as strong...I don't wan my color getting any lighter.

But for now to take care of my tresses, I have been using L’Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Shampoo & Conditioner for damaged hair (after relaxing and constant flat ironing and curling, the hair had been fried and falling off). The shampoo is ok but the conditioner...OH. MY. GOD.

My hair was super soft and manageable. Easy to comb through-which is no easy feat in the shower with me...a tangled mess! But that conditioner left my hair soft (slightly shiny) and knot free. I love! I'm sensing an HG (Holy Grail) right here but I won't say just yet. I never find hair products that stand the test of time (well...except for Johnson's Baby Shampoo)

=)
