EAT THAT FRENCHIES!!!!!!!

“The Americans? We’re going to smash them. That’s what we came here for...”

I'm not one to gloat. I'm really not. I'm a humble modest person. Competitive...very. But in the event that I win, I don't taunt or flaunt my achievements in the face of others.

Except tonight. haha.

And I didn't even win! I'm here watching the 2008 Beijing Olympics and I have watched what was the greatest relay of all time.

I have mentioned here that I was somewhat of a tomboy growing and sports have always played a MAJOR role in my life. After graduating 8th grade with the "Best Female Athlete of the Year" I declared that I was going to the Olympics for Track and Field...never happened but I did end up getting he MVP trophy freshman year of high school (though that was for Step/Cheer Team and not track..haha).

But why was I jumping up and down like a maniac in my living room about an hour ago??? Because the US Men's Swim Team has just won the gold in the 4x100 relay. And normally I wouldn't have been screaming as loud as I was but this was after Alain Bernard of France had boldly stated:

“The Americans? We’re going to smash them. That’s what we came here for...” (source) Bernard

Ummm...not so fast hot stuff.

The race was quite close and I'm not gonna lie when Cullen Jones slowed down the US team, I kinda sorta cussed him (well..my TV) real bad. He gave the French a 1 second lead...one second may not sound like a lot but in sports that's an eternity. But lo and behold, Olympic vet Jason Lezak anchored the US to victory when he out touched France's Bernard. And not to mention they "smashed" the previous world record. The end time was 3:08:24

You should have seen the Frenchies' faces. Sheer and utter shock. My future husband on the other hand, Michale Phelps, was screaming for joy because he is now one step closer to having the most Olympic golds, beating Mark Spitz's record of seven (Phelps is two away from eight...seriously this guy is AMAZING!!!)

and yes I said it...future husband. It can happen. He's 23...I'm 20 turning 21 in five months. He's in college, I'm in college so you know both of us have an educa
tion. And yeah, we're of different ethnic backgrounds but really...its 2008. He a cutie and I don't mind.

And he likes hip hop and apparently that's what he's listening to before going out and swimming.
And he's 6'4"....for me standing at 5'9" it's hard finding a guy tall enough to stand by me while in my Jimmy Choos (ok..my Bakers).

Can it get anymore perfect???

...ok so I'm kinda over reacting but...dreams come true right...hahaaaa. It's either him, Chris Paul or the kid who worked at Lids in the mall where I used to work..hahaha

Anyways...it just sucks to be the French Swim Team right now cuz Bernard personally made a fool out of them.

Major kudos to Cullen (despite my minor heart attack) because he is the second African American man to win Gold in swimming, Garret Weber- Gale because this is his first Olympic games, Phelps for the reason I stated before and Lezack for at his age won the best relay in recent years.

So go ahead USA...laugh, point, cheer, scream, make faces...you deserve it. But being the good sportsman that they were..they were just happy for each other.
