Comme des Garcons for H&M

So who else loves H&M?
(raises hands)

But I have been leaving H&M simply because everybody and they mother shop there. It's tough because I love going there and seeing all of the affordable chic clothes but then when you leave the store you see someone wearing what you either wanted to buy or just bought.

sucks...

But there is one thing that I do love about stores that are ridiculously affordable...they capture the attention of major fashion designers. Look at Target and there widely successful Go International collections- Richard Chai, Libertines, Proenza Schouler- these are BIG names and the pieces are often too cute for words and my debit card seems to find its way out of my wallet and into the hands of the cashiers.

Well H&M has reeled me back into the store...well at least in November they will. Like the Roberto Cavalli for H&M, major fashion house Comme des Garçons will be doing a capsule collection at an affordable price.

If you've been reading this blog from the getgo, you'll know that I just adore Rei Kawakubo (designer behind Comme). Her style is so much more different than these mainstream fashion houses. Rei is not afraid of black and makes you more aware of the beauty that comes from such a color. Normally, I reserve black for somber events: wakes, funerals, job interviews (those tend to be very depressing for me). But with Rei's clothing the clothes don't disappoint one bit. Very avant garde and sometimes architectural, her collections seem (in my opinion) almost couture like.

So having her do a collection for H&M will have me in H&M on opening day.

This is going to be interesting as not many people know or have heard of Comme des Garçons, unless they're really into fashion. But Rei is a fashion indie...she does what she wants and unlike Roberto Cavalli, she doesn't have that mainstream appeal so I'd love to see how this collection does.

Girl I know exactly what you mean about everyone having what you have from H&M.

But I'll definitely check it out in Nov. Thanks for the tip!
