Red was THE color last night and for the next 3 months fashion magazines (Lucky, InStyle, etc.) are gonna show us how to "wear" red. *sigh*
These were a few that I really loved:
These were a few that I really loved:
Heidi Klum in custom John Galliano
I love Heidi and I especially loved how she worked that dress. I like how the dress seems to flow on her and not to mention the part around her neck is to die for!

Anne Hathaway, in Marchesa and Harry Winston jewelry
The way this dress wraps around Anne is divine. You certainly can tell a Marchesa gown when you see one because of their beautiful simplicity. There are no giant diamonds or excess accessories on her and trust...there not needed. The flowers...the draping...absolutely stunning!
This girl gets a section all to herself:

Penélope Cruz, in Chanel Haute Couture and Chopard jewelry.
Penélope seems to never fail with red carpet events. This navy dress is STUNNING on her! I love everything about this dress from the frills to the draped mid section to the lovely little train down at the bottom.
Black has certainly made a comeback this season.
Jennifer Garner, in Oscar de la Renta, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, and a Roger Vivier clutchI absolutely love the bodice of this dress. All of the gathering on the bodice that leads to the bottom looks great with the bottom and tail of the dress.

Best Supporting Actress Tilda Swinton, in Lanvin.I LOVE Alber Elbaz and what he does for Lanvin but I do not like this dress on Tilda. She says she's comfortable (and that matters), like she's in her pj's. but it looked frumpy. Sure its not the glamour we're used to on the red carpet (and I applaud her for that and to me Lanvin is pure glamour) but maybe she should have worn another color. Like these:

I don't know if that is velvet but it looks like it and I don't like it. To me, velvet should be worn is moderation (a piece of the dress not the whole damn thing). if the dress was a black silk maybe that would have worked. but I do love that Tilda didn't do the whole body- hugging, tail having Hollywood dress. Also another bold move- NO MAKE UP! Gotta give it to her..that woman has flawless skin!

Best Actress Marion Cotillard, in Gaultier Paris Haute Couture, Chopard jewelry, and Daniel Swarovski clutch.I LOVE THIS DRESS!!! Marion looks wonderful. At first glance I was kinda like "what is that?" with that look like I smelled something funky...but as I looked at her again on the red carpet and on stage accepting the award it grew on me...to the point where I want it. The "scales" looks great and I bet this dress looked even more gorgeous in person.
Amy Adams, in Proenza Schouler, with a Fred Leighton bag and jewels. This dress is...cute for lack of a better word. It's safe. The green looks fantastic against her skin and I guess it's good to be safe at shows like this. Amazing train.
Katherine Heigl, in Escada. Katherine is our modern day glamour girl. Her hair is always impeccable, makeup...flawless, dress...stunning. Love the color and the shoulder detail.
Jennifer Hudson, in Roberto Cavalli.I don't like this. I like the dress just not on her. The bottom half looks good but the boob area...no bueno. It's obvious that there's no bra and her boobs are kinda- weird. Cute dress just not for Hudson (I still love her tho'). BUT this is wayyy better than last year's fiasco (a bolero??). I'm still trying to figure that one out...
Jessica Alba, in Marchesa and Cartier jewelry. I love Jessica Alba. I love Marchesa. So it comes to no surprise that I love this gown. Since Alba is preggers, this dress just looks divine (but why hide the baby bump!). Again, there's a simplicity to a Marchesa gown but the details really stand out. The deep purple and feathers worked wondrously.
There were more (Cate Blanchett in Dries Van Noten, Hilary Swank in Atelier Versace, Renée Zellweger in the stunning Carolina Herrera) but I can't possibly list all of them here. These were my top picks...
